"I mostly agree with MektonZ, however I don’t necessarily think that the character of Batman has been tarnished over time."
There's indeed an argument to be made that Batman giving up his roots and becoming a super-hero was inevitable when it was established he lived in the same universe than Superman. Or maybe when he was offered a membership in a super-team (i. e., 1940 when All-Star Comics #3 came out).
And I get why Batman fans wouldn't be happy if DC suddenly started pretending the last 79 years didn't happen. I'm not happy that DC brought Superman back to what they believed to be his Golden Age roots in 1986.
I can handle over-the-top Batman. I have issue when it comes at the expense of other characters and, worst of all, when the "Batgod" is touted as realistic and relatable.
I also believe that overexposure is bad for any character. Does someone else remember when DC/Marvel published four or five monthlies starring Superman/Spider-Man? When Wolverine, Punisher and Venom were everywhere? It was madness. Sooner or later people will get tired of the character.
Sigh. I miss Bronze Age Batman.
Anyway, back on Isabella's tweets. To be honest, I can see both sides of the argument. It sucks when DC neglects your favorite character because they're busy churning out even MORE Batman books, movies and games. Then again, they're business and Batman IS his biggest cash cow, what do you expect them to do?
Personally I would want them to try to push other characters as they keep making more Batman stuff.
Nonetheless, Isabella is behaving as an entitled fanboy. DC isn't obligated to promote HIS creation at the expense of other characters, let alone their actual money-maker.
