The Batman Warehouse Scene? Oh, yes. AKA I’ve played the Arkham games too.
The fight choreography is the highlight of the movie. I chuckled twice.
Roman was ridiculous. A thematic caricature attempting to force ironic humour. The scene in the club where he gets angry at the laughing woman was supposed to threatening and socially poignant, but failed by being too blatantly zeitgeist-y while also being the least horrific thing Roman does in the film.
Yes. The themes of BoP are clear and people will be reticent to critique the film negatively for fear of being branded anti-feminist. My problems are not with the themes but the execution. It’s not unique and there are many ensemble films that do it better. It’s also hardly the first “badass chick” film even though Twitter “reviewers” laud the fact an action movie for women finally exists.
It was not as bad a Suicide Squad. I’d rather watch it again over BvS or JL. It’s more tonally accurate overall. It utilises it’s R rating without exploiting it. There are good points to be found. A lot of the comedy was inorganic for me. The art direction and costumes, while toned down from SS, were still too niche for my tastes. Any character that isn’t Harley Quinn gets minimal characterisation.
BoP, as we all assumed, is a Harley Quinn movie. They knew that we knew this from the start and now knowing that they knew we knew and they knew we would still knowingly pay money just to know for sure irks me to no end.
