So I’m watching “Young Justice” for the first time, I’m halfway through the 3rd season, and I’ve been wondering, what universe is it set in? It came out shortly after JLU, so is it part of the DCAU? Reason why I’m asking is because there are parts where it makes me think it’s part of the DCAU, but the opening credits of Season 3 are the same opening credits of the DCAMU. So is it part of DCAU, DCAMU, or is it in its own universe by itself?

The confusion is understandable. The character designs come from the same group. It’s typical for animation to use stock footage. The lead designer is Phil Bourassa. I like his art!
They stopped making DCAU shows after Justice League Unlimited.
I love the DCAU shows. I am too old to watch those but I still watch it since I was a kid. I was unhappy when it was cancelled. Whoever thinks dcau sucks is a fool.
Btw there is another animated universe that is adult content, the DCAMU. They are still an active franchise.

DCAMU ended wit Apocalypse War.
DCAU is Earth 12, not Earth-12. At least, partially. We don’t know if the entire thing is. Young Justice is Earth-16. They exist in different multiverses.
Oh right Earth-12 was another Batman Beyobd universe, not the DCAU one tho

DCAU still contnues in comic form, though whether you consider canon is up to you.
The ending of Apocalypse War was pretty clear on the DCAMU ending.

Ok thanks everyone for posting. It was a little confusing.
As far as the DCAMU ending, it’s true that “JLD: AW” was the end of the DCAMU, but A) they did leave it on a cliffhanger (spoiler alert: when Flash started running possibly to create another Flashpoint) and B) some of the writers and producers have talked about doing another movie.
I for one REALLY hope they do more DCAMU movies. They’re some of my favorites, and I love how they’re in sync with each other.
As for the post about “being too old to watch the DCAU shows” (apologizes, I forget who posted that), I turn 37 next month and I still watch them. It’s one thing I’ve been trying to explain to my wife for years, you’re never too old to be a nerd. In fact, the older you get, I think the nerdier you get. Now we have the money to embrace our nerdiness lol.

A) the DCAMU is over. Any new universe would have a new name, new continuity.
B) I see that claim a lot. However, nothing concrete has been announced, except for one standalone Superman movie with different style and cast. The DCAMU being over seems tied to James Tucker's departure from the series.
So I just finished “Young Justice”, and I have to admit, while it wasn’t bad, I don’t think it was “good” either. What I mean by that is I was hoping for something more like the DCAU or DCAMU, and it wasn’t like either and was a huge let down. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed it, but the whole “metagene” storyline, Vandal Savage working with Darkseid, Granny Goodness being two separate people but not really, all a little too much off the reservation for my tastes. And what’s with the whole romance arc? I know the DC has had its fair share of romances, but this is a kid show. Superboy and Miss Martian, Artemis and Kid Flash, and Aqualad being gay? I don’t have a problem with anyone being gay, but this is supposed to be a kids show.
I guess my biggest problem is how far off the reservation they went. Aqualad became Aquaman and was leader of the JL, then Black Lightning became leader of the JL, Batman (sort of) answering to Nightwing, Superboy not having all of Superman’s powers, etc. I will fully admit I haven’t read any of the comics since I was a kid, but come on. None of that had ever been in anything I’ve ever seen or read.
