The story was meant to be sufficiently explained solely by watching the cartoon. The tie-in comics help us know where the characters were when they were on other missions in the show. It’s kind of like Lion King 3 with Timon and Pumba going between the Lion King 1 scenes where they didn’t appear
Do they explain in the comics or further in season 2 why are Superman and Superboy all good now i mean in season 1 they barely talk now Superman literally calls him little brother
I just watched it recently as well and I’ll admit, it is a bit confusing. The first episode of season two skips ahead 5 years, and the first episode of season 3 skips ahead 2 more years. So a total of almost 8 years goes by in the 3 seasons of YJ.
Not just that they also skips months in some episodes and the plot is kinda confusing one episode they're battling savage and leave us on a cliffhanger the next they're hunting aliens with 10 new characters then they're hunting Roy and Aqualad is black manta because something killed Tula idc most confusing show ever
I had no idea there were tie ins at all. I stopped watching because I despised the years between seasons. Seeing that kind of growth occur but not witness it is a little disappointing if you’re really enjoying the characters. 🙍🏻‍♂️

I have to disagree on the latest statements. I found it brilliant that we get to see the progression of the characters. The adherence to a coherent continuity is unprecedented for a superhero animated show.
But what about the stories that we missed the storeies that determined who are they now
They’re better left to our imagination.
At least you didn’t have to wait 5 years in real time for season 3 to be announced
I didn’t like what they did with Aqualad throughout the series. First season he was awesome, easily the strongest of the characters and the stability of the characters. Second season he flipped and was a bad guy bc someone let his girlfriend died, but he was really a good guy undercover. Alright, unlikely, but ok.
[Spoiler Alert]
Third season is where they lost me. So now he’s not only “Aquaman” instead of “Aqualad”, but he’s also co-leader of the JL (but not really because he still takes orders from Nightwing it seems like), and then he became gay? Yeah not so much. I have nothing against gay people, but don’t change a character that flipped sides because of his dead girlfriend, and then make him gay the next season. The third season was the worst IMO and I’m glad they didn’t continue along that line.
What do you think?
