Before you read Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps you should read Sinestro, it will explain why the Universe is in the state it is at the beginning of Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps. Read it in this order:

1. Green Lantern: Rise of the Third Army

2. Green Lantern: Wrath of the First Lantern

3. Sinestro

4. Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps

But in ordee to understand Third Army and Volthoom fully, you need to read Blackest Night and all that other stuff. And the other corps ofc qont make sense for a lot of them without reading the stuff like War of Light

Good reads I'm sure, but I don't think they're quite necessary, Another

Besides Secret Origin, I went blind into Blackest Night

And I didn't read Green Lantern: Brightest Day or War of the Green Lantern prior the New 52 stuff

But to each his own of course 😅

Omg how did you understand any part of Blackest Night lol.

Ill admit, I started getting into larger DC contnuity with 52 and I was just like What the hell is this?

Blackest Night was one of my earliest comics and I understood it fine.

(Although reading the DC Encyclopedia cover to cover does help)

I understood who most of the characters are in Blackest Night. And I read other stuff like Identity Crisis and Batman R.I.P, so I had a good grasp of continuity with some characters

I really just needed to understand something bad was happening and the heroes needed to band together and fight it

I understand people need to and would like to read all the prerequisites, but I've been reading a lot of comics to not mind it at all
