Again, King of Atlantis! Also, I think they toned him down because Super Friends was aimed at kids, also it was made by Hanna-Barbara, which is full of charmingly cheesy stuff, so blame them.

Falsehood. It was the 70's. Everything was cheesy. Also He Communicated with fish to do amazing/useful stuff.

It is not true that everything was cheesy in the 70's. There were plenty comics, movies and even cartoons that were darker or dealed with more serious stuff.

Aquaman was depicted as useless by cartoon-makers who did not know what to do with him.

Same thing happened to Simon Belmont in the Captain N cartoon, and Jean Grey in the 90's X-men cartoon.

I would also add "and Superman in the DCAU Justice League", but it has been a while since I watched it so I am not sure of if my recollections of him being frequently used as a punching bag or a prop to make Bruce Timmy's favorite character look better are accurate.

One thing: He is a fish. He can only talk to fish.

But seriously though, the powerful ocean powers should have been given more screen time than any other talents of his.

Mektonz- Superman was nerfed in the animated series for the story. I actually appreciated the down to earth version in that particular universe. Otherwise they would have to write him out of the story lines. I like supes not being able to breath in space or absorb absolutely every blow. Makes more room for fish man to talk to the dolphins
