Diminishing returns, I call it. And fatigue event. The first time they made an universe-chaging mega-event, they drew the direct market's attention powerfully. Nowadays, events barely increase sales two or three months before they drop quickly back to their normal levels.
Or lower.
Older fans are tired, and young children want nothing to do with that mess.
What’s this
My biggest problem with this upcoming event was the lack of build up and this event fatigue. We had so many events already, we barely got out of Dark Metal to get into Death Metal. We also get the lack of build up for the upcoming event, the time frame between January and February is just to short of a time to develop the new characters and explain the aftermath of Death Metal. Personally I don't think Future State is a bad idea, but the timing was undesirable. Also unless Future State is like an alternative universe, the characters will stick around defeating the purpose of Rebirth which was to bring back old relationships, characters, ideas. But so far it's been less of that and more of events bringing old characters/teams back and forgetting those characters/teams after. I'm not trying to say DC is doing bad with this event, I'm just saying they need to slow the pacing down and focus on individual story arcs rather than crossovers and events so that it can lead up to Future State rather than a time skip.
I have to disagree with you. Remember it's a time skip, we're pulled forward 10 years to the future. New characters and events will be explained then and there in their individual books
As for the past, I'm sure it'll explain what happened to Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. Comics do a good job of getting readers up to speed
And I dunno about event fatigue. Some books like Doomsday Clock or Heroes in Crisis don't count as events in my opinion
If I have to count events starting from the New 52, it'd be Forever Evil, Convergence, Justice League vs Suicide Squad, Metal, and Death Metal. Those being in the span of 7 years
I can't say the same for Marvel though 😞
Anywho, @LyfePhaser , I say give Future State a shot. I'm sure there are some books you're interested in
What’s going to happen to The Flash? Just curious.
That's a good question. Just from a cover Reverse Flash was holding Flash in a chokehold (so more or less the same 😅)
There's also a new Flash in Future State
@Fatebuoy I hope your right, I just don't want DC to go broke because of this. It's also expensive to buy all the upcoming comics of Future State and that could turnoff fans. I'm just concerned in the time where comics are hard to sell, let alone meet company standards.
What do you think?
