I haven' t watched that, but...
This movie has been getting horrible reviews, and I mean I dont think it was amazing, there are a few plot holes and things that dont make sense but it was still WAY better then critics have been saying
It’s okay. Not bad but not great, definitely a step down from the first movie.
I think it was amazing I have high expectations for the next Wonder Woman after watching ww84 although I didn’t like her flying that was to dragged out
It was on the better side of the DCEU, which isnt saying much, but it was pretty good. Not super amazing, but still.
Just saw it and it was horrendous. I honestly can’t believe it was directed by a Patty Jenkins considering how much of a decline it was from the first. If the opening scene was supposed to be kitschy as if it were an ‘80s film then it failed as an homage and hit solely as cheap and cheesy.
I hate when movies set in the past get lost in the nostalgia of the period and, of course, a film whose subtitle is 84 does it in spades.
The first one had flaws. The third act to be specific, but it’s themes were clear without being contrived and it was well paced and balanced overall. WW84 is the opposite, especially in the action sequences. Again, I can’t believe it’s the same director. It makes me question how much of the fight choreography in the first film was even Patty’s input versus this film, because something went horribly wrong.
As for the writing...
Truth versus lies. Selfish desire versus selfless acceptance. Sure, I understand why those are logical WW themes, but the execution left a lot to be desired. The story trying to portray these conflicts got lost in—what I assume is Geoff Johns’ input—an extraneous array of esoteric WW trivia points. Add to this the horrible man-out-of-time role reversal of Steve Rogers, the undeveloped resolution of the Cheetah subplot, and whatever that mawkish, drawn out flying scene was supposed to represent along with the redundant suit of armour and WW84 is a sloppy mess that replaces any of what made the first enjoyable.
Adaptation is a very hard balance to maintain between comics and live action. While the first excelled at this, 84 failed miserably by shoehorning in too many unnecessary comic nods. Max Lord was the only thing that was adapted acceptably into this medium. I did appreciate how ambition and manipulation were still key traits of his while making his body react to his ‘ability’ much like the comics. Somewhere I bet there’s a draft where she snaps his neck in the third act. I’m glad she didn’t, but if they were so insistent on comic references they could have at least teased that one and left out the invisible jet.
I still don't know why nuclear missiles could spring out of thin air, but Steve had to take over another guy who got no say in any of it. Or maybe that guy's wish was boning Wonder Woman?
The scene at the beginning served no other use than giving some actors a paycheck.
It was great! I don't get why people hate it.
Because some people have watched a variety of movies in their lives and this pales in comparison.
I didn't walk out of it thinking "wth did I just watch?" like I did with Suicide Squad, TLJ, or Borat. But it wasn't a masterpiece. And Gal isn't a good actress. Special effects and action scenes were meh, music forgettable, definitely a downgrade compared to the first movie in those aspect. I actually liked that it didn't end in abig slugfest and nobody died.
And is it me or was alpha female Barbara.... not 80s enough? More hairspray, more neon, more shoulder pads. Not frizzy curls and an lbd.
Interesting question...just that an interesting question
What do you think?
