Sure. I could see it as an epilogue installment of sorts.
I don’t know how seamless the transition from comic to screen would be. It’s an intricate story with a large cast of characters (admittedly some of whom could probably be cut out). The biblical themes might not be so easily adapted (particularly Norman McCay and the Specter’s invisible observation, which is crucial to the heart of the story). So maybe not a straight-up adaptation, but on-screen inspiration.
I believe that the Superman narrative and commentary on the persistent relevance of traditional superheroes is worth borrowing at least some elements from the comic, particularly to combat this increasingly misguided sentiment that a tragedy-struck Superman is so fragile that he would turn evil in his grief.
