You try looking good in a unitard. You can cheat with Superman and Batman, but Flash is basically just a bodystocking.
@Elaexy Rebirth-onward is your comic Barry. For many, that addition to his publication history is still quite recent. The majority of Barry’s appearances in comics have still been his pre-Rebirth “boring” self. Since a large portion of people contribute their impressions on characters based on the portrayals they’ve had for the longest amount of time versus the most recent, I don’t think it’s entirely unfair for people to remember and think of pre-Rebirth Barry’s “personality” as the first portrayal that comes to mind when they think of his character and to consider the traits affiliated with the “longest-existing version” as being central aspects to that character.
Understandable!
Also, been reading up on some early SA Flash recently, would not recommend. A few outliers here and there but DC doesn't get good until 1970.
Why wouldn't you recommend SA Flash Tupka? I think that if they revived some of the villains and gave them a more modern version they could do quite well. Paradox is a good example of this. Honestly, I'd love to see Sabertooth come back as a Wolverine-like villain.
Also, if I were making a Flashpoint movie, I'd make it the first in the series so you don't erase what you've done. I'd start the film with background, like Thawne killing his mother and the Elongated Kid. Also, I'd want to really go into the world of Flashpoint to make the audience see what's happened to their beloved heroes.
60s Marvel was good. 60s DC's response to it... laughably bad. Other than Drake on Doom Patrol and Shooter on LSH, the comics mostly still followed a simple villain of the week format that was unchanged from the1940s. DC doesn't really get back until they manage to snag up Kirby and some of the others who are finally fed up with Stan Lee. Adams and O'Neal, on Detectve and Green Lantern.
DC has always been bad at deciphering the success of the competition, whether it's 60s Lee, 90s Other Lee, or the MCU. They always run with the wrong thing. And looking at how they milk their own dead horse with more DKR and Watchmen sequels, they are also bad at deciphering their own success. DC could do with a new Shooter.
I always found it easier to like a character at marvel than DC.
Really? I always found the more hopeful heroes way more likeable. Like at Marvel most of the heroes have some mental issues or are even crazy. You get some blind catholic beating up people in a devil costume whose mental health is easier to break than Glas or a dude in a white costume with a personality disorder thinking he is the soldier of the God of the moon or a dude that thinks he is a god that keeps losing his hammer lol or you get a rich billionar ass who went villain for a while.
In the slightly modified words of Joseph L. Mankowitz: "Why would I want to make Flashpoint? I wouldn't even go and see Flashpoint".
The concept really doesn't interest me as a movie. Also, probably a hot take, but it'd be more interesting if Barry discovered that Henry really did kill his mom (rather than an evil time traveler). Barry's spent his whole life, convinced that his dad is innocent. Then his whole world is rocked, upon discovering the truth. They would not let me make that picture.
Then is the fact that the Flashpoint movie is currently scheduled to be released November 4, 2022. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is scheduled to be released March 25 of that year. It'll just look like DC/WB is copying Marvel Studios, if they do a multiverse movie.
What do you think?
