Olympian Gods are not the Old Gods that make the New Gods New.
Well in the DCEU they are called Old Gods but you can call them Olympian Gods.
Which just reinforces my point that the DCEU does a pisspoor job of adapting the Fourth World. Old Gods are a thing.
The writers read what, Origin? And just picked some generic hints. The New 52 was already unkind to the New Gods, it's sad they never delved into the treasure trove.
Yes I know who the old gods are in the comics. Just saying the olympian gods are the old gods of the DCEU.
I'm not arguing that. I'm arguing that it's an incorrect interpretation, though since the entire DCEU is shallow in terms of lore and character, it's to be expected.
And I am not even arguing at all. And we don't even know the full history and origin of the old gods and the new gods other than stories from Wonder Woman about the old gods. I think the cancelled new gods movie was supposed to dive deep into the origin of the new gods.
And just because the Olympian gods are called old gods doesn't mean there can't be other old gods.
The New Gods movie was, I believe, supposed to explore Barda and Mister Miracle. It's a shame it got cancelled but honestly, it was such a weird subject that I can't say I'm too surprised.
I suppose from Diana's sense, and Earth sense, they can be old gods. But New Gods and "old gods" are the same age. Something something Godwave.
You do realize that in WW, Ares was fueled by 4 years of one of the largest wars ever, right? Past Darkseid would probably get soloed by Wonder Woman or better yet Superman. And regardless, its still poor writing to show him beaten up like that in the start and forced to flee.
The Old Gods New God's mistake isn't exclusive to Snydercut, comics make that same dumb mistake all the time and at this point it's pretty much become normal thing to say because the DC editors don't care.
Ares was weakened during WWI because during the war between the Old Gods where Ares killed all the other Old Gods, Ares and Zeus fought last. During their duel Zeus hit Ares with a lightning bolt which mortally wounded him but he survived but Zeus didn't survive his injuries after being hit by a lightning from Ares. Ares was wounded this whole time. The reason he was strong enough to fight Wonder Woman was because he was feeding off of WWI. It was boosting him all this time but he was still wounded.
Ares probably survived the lightning hit from Zeus because he was feeding off of the fight and the war between him the old gods.
If Ares wasn't wounded then he would've been like the Ares from the Darskeid war. He would've easily killed Wonder Woman.
And WWI probably wasn't good enough. If it was a war like the Darkseid war then Wonder Woman would've been absolutely dead.
You're giving those events way more continuity than they actually have.
What do you think?
