Who else really dislikes this character? Is it just me?

I don’t know what you expect, but Deathstroke has been alive longer and was literally trained by the same assassin league. So yes, Damian is still considered a Gary Stu in my opinion.
In my opinion your "Gary Stu" belief is silly, wrong, and is taking you nowhere. Damian being a "Gary Stu" as you so strongly persuade has nothing to do with him being obnoxious either. It really just looks like an excuse for you to nitpick how perfect he seems to be.
So what I'm trying to say about your Gary Stu "Point" is...
Good for you, but no one asked.
Also, that “raised by assassin’s” thing, just sounds like an excuse for him to be a Gary Stu, wtf? He automatically just wins because “he was raised by assassin’s, and you have to expect him to win because of that”. Sounds like a Gary Stu
Literally the post asked, buster.
It's just not worth my time. People have seen my argument regarding Mary Sues in the past. Anyone can see the flaws in the above logic-- e.g. by the same logic, Tim Drake is a Mary Sue. It's obvious he's basing his opinion of Damian off of the DC animated movies and not any substantial reading of the character... which really only supports my findings that much like Superman, people who don't like Damian haven't read his comics. Anyways, it's just not worth my effort and I'm unfollowing the post. Please refrain from tagging me in future replies.
^^Post never asked for you to complain about his perfectness. Consider re-reading the OP.
You’re right, my bad, but everyone stated their opinion of the character, based on the subject, and I’m telling you why I dislike him being a Gary Stu in the animated movies. Echo talking about the topic of Mary Sue was not about the subject at hand, while I was using the term Mary Sue to reference Damian in the animated movies. So if no one truly asked, was Echo’s firm stance against the term Mary Sue, and yours too. I explained why I think it, if you’re still mad that I think Damian in the animated stuff is a Gary Stu, I really couldn’t care less what you think about the term Gary Stu, and I could point you to the nearest store that sells kleenexes if you still want to cry about it. It’s my opinion on Damian, I lined it up with the definition I showed you, I showed why his feats are ridiculous and how he has barely an flaws in the animated stuff. So I’m leaving it at that.
Alright fair, fine, leave it at that. Wouldn't consider myself to be crying about your stance though.
@Ladderman we don’t need to be that aggressive about other people’s opinions. No one should take this to heart. Not even the character’s creator becomes defensive or feels aggravated when another writer undoes or ‘ruins’ the character as far as I know. Even if they did, they don’t publicly scream that out.
I don’t think that he’s a Gary Stu (or male Mary Sue) even in his animated movie adaptation. I didn’t like his portrayal though, and even less Deathstroke (who is one of my favorite DC antagonists). I think that the Mary Sue term has been overused and misinterpreted recently and that’s what probably other users here were trying to tell you.
Damian was written to be disliked at the beginning. But IMO he has gone through some growing arcs that have made them more empathetic and likable.
@ScavengerOne There was clear hostility in Echo’s reply about it. Saying,”I stopped paying attention after Mary Sue” is not just invalidating my opinion but also being clearly rude and unhelpful. It doesn’t contribute anything to the conversation, I feel like “Mary Sue” is a valid term for a lot of characters. I don’t take Damian to heart or anything btw, I just really dislike his character compared to the others. I’m not a Jason fan either, not that I hate him but he’s got anime tier writing sometimes. So I don’t enjoy him. But it’s just my opinion, and maybe I’m more adamant about my opinion on Damian because I see a lot of people dislike him, but I’m glad that he appeals to a lot of people too. But yeah, I’m sorry if I got a little hostile myself.
What do you think?
