Death and Return are kinda more accurate and have the different Supermen taking over the mantle. But I prefer the originality and grittier tone of Superman: Doomsday.
Death and return of superman actually managed to portray how the absence of superman impacted the rest of the DC universe and how important he was in that world and that according to me is the reason alone that It is the greater among the two but the inclusion of conner kent was just icing on the cake
