I think he's a genuinely creative writer who has a better understanding of the Batman mythos than most other modern writers. He also gave us Duke, so huge plus there. I am a huge fan of his All-Star Batman title, and I really liked Batman: Endgame. I'm not as familiar with the Dark Knights: Metal thing, and I think his handling of Jim Gordon as Batman could have been handled a bit more thoughtfully but overall he's a solid writer and Batman and Robin: Eternal would have been actually good if he'd been the one to script it.
