O'Neil wanted to mark the Green Arrow character (a character with almost no personality) with a clear ideology, making him way more popular and appreciated.

So I think the modern GA should definitely be like O'Neil one, because it's the portrayal that made him what he is now.

And Hawkman/GA political conflict is hilarious.

I feel like there aren't enough comics nowadays that deal with politics, at least not heavily, and doing that could certainly help Green Arrow be even cooler than he already is. Imagine him taking on racism, the MAGA movement, and more, in a way other superheroes don't dare. I say go for it!

Yeah. When I think of Green Arrow what comes to mind is him being liberal and liking Black Canary.

When I think of Green Arrow I think DC's Hawkeye but goofier

Or Batman but with Arrows

Probably a poor idea but I admit I know as much about the character as I care for him

I'd say there is room for both characterizations. Especially since the early seasons of Arrow was literally Oliver killing rich bureaucrats after first giving them a warning to stop hurting his city, but I digress.

I hate seeing real world politics in comics since it's so obviously biased but if it can be done right, then it would be OK. For example, there's a story where members of the JL start revealing who they are voting for, but that story did not feel biased, it was in my opinion, real world politics done right in comics, the whole issue started with Green Arrow saying he was gonna vote for one side, which caused the other members to also reveal their politics (except Superman). I actually enjoyed the story and I hate politics. Unfortunately, today's writers are incapable of being unbiased
