Who can defeat The Batman Who Laughs?
Everyone the writer wants.
@Tupka217 come on! You can't just say that to everything, it is true but almost all debates and discussions about comics come down to "whatever the writer and editors want".
Stan Lee said that to everything.
I understand you don’t like it TG05, but it’s a valid thing to say. No need to be that pressed about it.
One of the rules in the guidelines is that a post should facilitate discussion but that comment whenever made serves in the purpose of ending it and that too without a proper or satisfactory conclusion.
That’s an opinion, but not one I share. Everyone can give their own answer to this question. Everyone’s answer is written in such a way that the user feels they are at least partially correct, thus implying a sense of finality to the part of the argument given. People are still free to debate anyone’s arguments using viable counterpoints. It just so happens that Tuppy’s comment is one that he says with the intent of having finality and that his point is difficult to counter. Others are still free to discuss as they like.
If we just flagged all comments we deemed fruitless to a conversation, all hell would break loose.
Besides, the statement has purpose. In the context of hypothetical matchups involving characters people give too much credence to, the suggestion that anyone could potentially beat a particular character is the same as arguing that said character isn’t the nigh-omnipotent being some people like to take characters as. The statement is a way to take the character down a peg, nudge them away from the pedestal.
Like superman, who is very often not just only nudged but downright thrown off the pedestal just so that DC can show how powerful the other character is.(which in most cases doesn't make sense)
That’s an opinion. I don’t think Superman is all that incredible, given how many times he’s as hard-pressed to beat villains as other heroes. During the majority of the times I see Superman being this near-unstoppable force, it’s when he is guest-appearing in a non-Superman comic, as that helps maintain the myth of his utter greatness and juxtaposes it with the primary characters of whatever book(s) in question to make the leads feel more vulnerable/modest/relatable.
