Does anyone else think that it's about time we get the proper origins and timelines for characters in infinite frontier so we can understand which new earth stories and which prime earth stories are canon for which character in present continuity ?

As a person who cares about continuity only if it's managed well and clearly, I basically ignore whatever universe I think it's too messed up continuity-wise. This applies to Prime Earth, for example.
When I read Prime Earth issues I just think "this is not canon in any continuity, it's a stand-alone story and I should see it as a possible story this character/team could experience, but it doesn't count in terms of overall DC universe".
In that way I can enjoy the story as it is, without knowing too much about the rest of the universe the story is set into.
Honestly I think DC is intentionally vague about this since it means that they can do whatever they want with what is or isn’t canon depending on the story, and just let the fans try and figure out how it works. It’s easier than having a rigid continuity where contradictions have much more consequences. I still prefer a more strict continuity, but get why they did it.
^Yes, ambidextrous, I believe the word is
The current continuity is fine, I think. It’s just that it’s new. Rather than wonder which elements of past continuity are or aren’t in the current one, I think as long as we just take it as it comes, we’ll be able to piece together much of the current canon. We just have to wait until points are addressed on a case-by-case basis.
Instead of trying to make sense of the current continuity, I'd like DC to make a separate line of ongoing series, one-shots, and minis where they start from scratch and have the liberty to retell iconic storylines. But keeping it separate, with no crossovers with other universes or anything.
I’d love to see solo series focusing on specific characters entire stories, without any sliding timescales or reboots or tie-ins or anything. Just one ultimate story from beginning to end for that specific character.
Kinda like marvel’s life story series, but longer and with less time skips.
Yeah, I think something like that instead of a reboot would be better. I haven't read the Marvel comic you mentioned, but a series focusing on a character's entire history (each issue taking place in a different era) and giving them a proper conclusion would be cool.
This was the best timeline effort that I have seen in comics so far:
Young Justice (TV) probably got inspired by it.
I do think eventually it’d be nice for dc to clarify what is and isn’t canon, I think most origins are good the way they are though and if anything in them needs to be updated just to fit they can just mention it briefly in a comic, I think most DC characters have pretty good origin stories and I think changing them or altering them further or de-canonizing them is going to anger and alienate fans, and it’s going to be harder to find a good starting point when getting into a new character. That being said it would be nice to have a legit timeline of maybe how many years are between Superman revealing himself to the world and either A) the formation of the Justice League or B) Robin becoming Batman’s sidekick. I think the rest of the exact timeline can stay a little abstract.
What do you think?
