I think a few of them do, maybe, but I’m more certain that the current fans won’t accept it and go straight to bigoted.
Yes the perception of fans is important too.
Maybe it’s important comics show people can have a meaningful discussion without it ending in insults or cancelation.
People don’t just learn things on their own. All our viewpoints are based on our personal experiences and interactions. People grow by learning from their mistakes. All people make mistakes. That’s not cynical realism. That’s fact.
Again, I’m not pitching Jay Garrick slap Star-Girl on the arse when she does a good job, or have Alan Scott perform a minstrel show on talent night, I’m talking about passive expressions and views that are prevalent everywhere. Wally West expressed his distrust of Communists in the Teen Titans and instead of being booted off the team they tried talking to him instead. Weird, I know.
If everyone is just sitting around sipping tea and agreeing with each other then that makes a pretty boring book in my opinion.
That would need capable writers and understanding fans. Sadly, they are not the majority.
I think it could be pulled off with a modern take on Old Justice. In the original YJ run, they attempted to shut down the team due to their perceptions of the new generation. Could be interesting to give some more serious implications about outdated thinking.
Imagine Barry trying to explain to Jay Garrick that Wonder Woman isn't the Justice League's secretary
"Secretary" was meant as "vice-president" and not as the person who takes appointments and answers to the phone, I guess.
😂
I need to clear up this "Wonder Woman JSA secretary" thing. I really really doubt the term was used to refer to the fact she took appointments and made calls. If only Golden Age JSA stories weren't so rare...
My hypothesis is that it was mean as the vice to the "chairman".
I feel like this would fit Peacemaker.
What do you think?
