Maybe at the time of Man of steel he didn't but not anymore. Also, Chris Reeve didn't have enough chops for the role of Superman either but he was still cast and no one since has been good enough. I think Henry deserved the chance he got.

You may be right but I would really like to see more of his superman, especially in a non-snyder movie. I want to see what he can do in a proper Superman movie when he is given some good material to work with.

I don't think he can just develop chemistry with Amy Adams overnight though. Because they had none.
