Well, classic silver age costumes are more nostalgic than modern looks. And honestly, I would like Gal Gadot's costume more if the skirt was removed.

Nostalgia is one deal. Practicality is another.

The swim suit looks fine in the comics but it's probably for the better that it's been replaced.

Swimsuit, That's exactly what it was. I'm not denying that it wasn't iconic but it was a swimsuit no matter how you look at it.

When the top half is the only piece that is armor, that's just partial nudity when describing it as armor without pants.
