Those were the main foes but I still think it was unnecessary to kill all those villains that defined the character's first year as a crime fighter.

The show didn't need to be comic accurate but some characters like carmine falcone or sal Maroni are essentially early Batman villains.

We don't know if all those secondary villains that you mentioned are still around, do we?

for example Barnes (the executioner) disappeared maybe he just left the city.

Yeah, Ivy was still alive and so was Clayface, Bane, Croc, Harley was implied at the end, and Jervis was always around.

And I would hardly consider them defining him. Falcone was an obstacle in Year One to what would come in a supervillain age. The foes that would actually define him. So yeah, things were not entirely accurate, but nothing is entirely. The show already gave him Year Zero as practically the final season turn to Batman.

Yeah, that part for sure wasn't and did suck because he was a pretty cool rendition of that character.

Though it kinda runs counter to your point because he is a supervillain left for Bruce Wayne later.

I always thought of this as an alternate universe.

It just didn't make sense to me that Bruce was so young and all these villains were coming out of the woodwork.

I've seen the whole thing (I think) it was a few years ago but some bits and pieces I remember... anyways I'm watching it again until newer super shows/movies come out. I'm almost done with Season 3.

Also the villains got some years of age on Bruce and he hadn't even become Batman yet. Not until the end like Clark in his Superman suit of Smallville.

Which Smallville is the starter of the Arrowverse even though Arrow technically started that run.

Yeah, every single movie or TV show is its own universe. What I've found unnecessary was the fact that they killed off almost the entire family of characters before the star of the show shows up as a vigilante.

Though the star of the show is James Gordon and not Bruce Wayne but you get the idea, right?

I still don't get it. Because they absolutely did not kill every character.

They killed some characters that would define the first year of Bruce Wayne as Batman such as carmine falcone, sal Maroni and probably the court of owls.

Second year would be professor pyg, the ventriloquist, the Sensei and Ra's al Ghul.

Third year would be the classic villains such as the scarecrow, the mad hatter, penguin, Riddler, Jeremiah Valeska, Catwoman (probably), Mr freeze, firefly, two face and Solomon Grundy (killed on season 4).

The next years would be random cases such as murders committed by low life thugs and muggers and some crimes committed by the aforementioned villains.

Considering the fact that almost all of organized crime is dissolved because of the deaths of carmine falcone and Maroni.

Sofia falcone, the last surviving member of the dissolved falcone crime family is in a coma.

Again, there are other descendants of the families. And the Maronis were mostly out of the picture very early on anyway in place of mob foes like Black Mask and the Penguin. Both of which exist in this series.

Solomon Grundy died already to become Solomon Grundy. Same can happen again.

And the Court doesn't define Bruce's first year because if it did, he'd be dead.
