Remember when DC tried to make Mary the new champion of Shazam back when Fury of the Gods was supposed to be released last year?
That was stupid. She only held the title for a few months before Billy inevitably came back.
I love how the nerd in me made me think of that time Damian became Batman, only picturing him in an oversized uniform with the cape covering his hands screaming “I’m Batman.”
I think it's a shame Jace is being ignored nowdays, considering he is a Batman but from New York instead of Gotham, he could join Batman Inc. what i want is to see an encounter between Bruce and Jace in the canon timeline, it would be interesting to see what Bruce thinks of him, because so far it looks like he's not even aware of his existence lol.

@KypDurronFanboy To be fair, John Ridley wanted Jace to become Batman 6 years after Bruce mysteriously disappeared. During that time, Jace's debut as Batman would have made sense. Jace was taking a vacant position that was sorely needed.
Unfortunately, thanks to the complete overhaul of the 5G, DC told Ridley to introduce Jace way too early and Jace didn't get enough time or character development to endear himself to fans. Also, Lucius Fox became a cheating husband and a neglectful father because... uh, reasons.
With the arrival of a new Batman TV show and the development of the sequel to the movie with Robert Pattinson, I don't think DC will want to revisit Jace anytime soon, leaving poor Jace as the black guy who assumed the mantle of a white guy, without the white guy's knowledge or approval.
We can talk all day long of how Jace wasn't given a fair chance or that his series was much better than people give it credit for, but the sales numbers speak for themselves.
@Leader Vladimir Yeah, Prime Earth Jace was terribly handled, but i feel he can still be salvaged by including him in the larger Batman mythos instead of acting like he's completely isolated, like come on he's Luscious' son.
Also yeah the character assassination of Luscious wasn't fun either, he's completely out of character in Jace's stories.
I don't even understand why did Jace have to show up in the main DC Universe. Why not give him a completely universe to play in? Hell, why even create a completely new Black character? Duke Thomas is right there! Use him every once in a while!
Unfortunately, Jace will probably get benched for the time being, alongside other characters that were advertised as game changers but were ultimately ignored because their books didn't sell, like Harper Row, Kelli Quintella, Jo Mullein and even Yara Flor.
As for John, I think Geoffrey Thorne used the previous Green Lantern book to prop him up and propel him forward at the expense of other Lanterns like Hal. In the final issue, John becomes a god and Thorne says that, unlike Hal and his experience with Parallax, John can use his new power with wisdom and humility. In other words, John can succeed where Hal failed because John's humanity is stronger than Hal's humanity.
Comic Book Revolution even wrote an article about how that story is all about celebrating the classic heroes and their legacy, even when it was originally advertised as putting the spotlight in the new generation of heroes.
Are you kidding me? Both Hal as the God of Light and Kyle Rayner as Ion were capable of wielding their power without giving in to the temptations of corruption and both gave up their power for the greater good. If Thorne wants to give John the spotlight, fine; he just doesn't need to imply that Hal and Kyle are lesser characters.
Personally, I was never that interested in John. Sure, I liked him in Justice League but that's because he had other, more interestng characters to bounce off, so he didn't come off as bland or boring.
A truth about Green Lantern that lots of people either forget or just refuse to acknowledge is that it has too many characters and that multitude of characters can only work if a writer finds a way to produce good interactions between those characters. I'm sorry, but if your Lantern isn't Hal, Sinestro or Atrocitus, you'll probably struggle in carrying your book, and that includes fan-favorites like John, Kilowog, Guy or Arkillo.
Last time I checked, Kyle was created because Guy and John didn't work the way DC hoped and even then, Kyle failed to generate enough interest from viewers, which caused Geoff Johns to say "you know what? Screw it. Let's just bring Hal back to life".
I don’t think Sinestro or Atrocious can carry a book any better that John, Guy, and Kyle. Personally I’d love for Hal, Guy, John, and Kyle to still be looked at as the forefront Green Lantern characters and the other 3(or 4 or whatever) human Green Lanterns take more of of a supporting role, kind of on a Kilowog level, still more important than most of the other Corps characters. Personally I think they should go back to a Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps book, following the main four but including everyone else.
