I'm satisfied in knowing the movie is ranked last on doing this story right.
Why is the comic listed? Wouldn't it be inherently the "best Flashpoint storyline"?
EDIT: Speaking about Flashpoint, I've always taken issue with the impetus for the story. All Barries just decide to go back in time to save their moms without giving time-travel a second-thought. Ezra Miller aside, they all seem pretty smart for the most part, and yet they just go stupid for plot purposes.
I mean I guess some prefer the alt versions of the tale sometimes. So that's why that paradox exists. After all, I've seen people mainly bring up the movie when the show came out as that's how people heard of Flashpoint before then.
I mean the show added on the recent grief of losing his dad for him mainly doing this action out of impulse and new grief. Flashpoint the movie... pretty much just had Thawne remind him of what he did and that was it. Flashpoint the story itself was more in the mindset of "hey, Johns needs this retcon stat!" and the film version was always an idiot.
@Xandermcc True. I guess general people aren't aware of the full Flashpoint story as opposed to the DCAMU movie. Also, I do think the original story suffers from being a rushed time-travel event to just do cool shit. Since the Flash is generally an established hero by the time that Flashpoint occurs, it seems weird that he'd make stupid mistakes like that (impulsively or not). I also don't like the retrocausal angle, either.
Idk. Personally, I think it'd work better if Thawne revealed his murder of Nora before "Flashpoint". Barry would think that, due to Thawne's meddling, he's always been living in a variant of the "true timeline", and the Flash was never really supposed to exist. He'd therefore could go back in time to change things back to "how they're supposed to be", sacrificing the Flash without fully knowing his importance to reality at large. With the world worse for it, Thawne would have one over on Barry, ruining his life by giving him what he wants. Just my two-cents. 🪙🪙
Yeah, its an interesting idea that Barry only gets half the picture and maybe he'd find out he always lived in the timeline Thawne set for him in his exploration of Flashpoint itself.
Justice league flashpoint paradox
I prefer Thawne's death in the comic.
What do you think?
