Fun fact: apparently Damian's time was a villain in Batman vs Robin was supposed to be permanent. As part of DC's unfulfilled plans for 5G, Damian was supposed to genuinely betray his father. When Dan DiDio was ousted from DC, however, that obviously didn't come to pass and now, we're left with a story in which Bruce and Damian fight for no reason other than plot convenience.

A scrapped initiative for DC where they would have characters take on new mantles. It never happened due to Covagatha and Didio’s departure. However most of the plan found it’s way to other comics such as Future State

Batman vs Robin was written at a time when DC was just obsessed with destroying every positive influence in Damian's life. That trend seems to be over, what with the ending of that story and the announcement of a new Batman and Robin series, but yeah, Infinite Frontier was a pretty dark period for Damian.
