Counterpoint: Maybe I think the current Infinite Frontier-era is the highest peak we’ve reached in well over a decade, if not more.
But … Yeah, I also like series from the mid-to-late 1980s a whole bunch, haha. New Titans, Firestorm, Captain Atom—some good options.
Add Ostrander's Suicide Squad and Perez' Wonder Woman to that list.
As someone who rates the Infinite Frontier era in the top 3 DC periods, I would not disagree
But, given that I made this post after I just read the Ostrander Suicide Squad run plus the Janus Directive, I think we've unintentionally made a really solid case about how good post COIE DC was in the 80s. Just firing on all cylinders
Like, for a personal power ranking, I'd go with:
1) Mid to late 80s
2) Late 90s to early 2000s
3) Infinite Frontier/Dawn of DC
4) Post One Year Later/Pre New 52 DC (incredible highs but the valleys were low)
5) Post Rebirth to pre Infinite Frontier (Bendis must pay for everything)
I'd agree about the mid-‘80s. I do, however, love many of the '80s run prior to CoIE. New Teen Titans may be one of the best runs that started in 1980, but I like a few titles around the 1983-1985 mark like Vigilante and Infinity Inc.
1998-2006
Personally, mid '80s to late '90s.
2000-2010 DC era is under appreciated imo 🗣️ also quite like how the New 52 started off in terms of origin tweaks here and there
