I ended up accepting the post-Flashpoint continuity (years later). Probably out of resignation. But New Earth was delivering (storywise) before it was abruptly ended. Today I watched the DC documentary in Max that just premiered. There Geoff Johns mentions that Flashpoint wasn’t intended to reset the whole DC Universe. He mentioned that Lee and Didio approached him halfway. They didn’t mention that they were threatened by WB corporate to increase sales, as Marvel was beating them every month for the previous 10 years. They decided to reboot and utilized Flashpoint. It actually worked economically.
Me neither, in all honesty I quite like a lot of elements of the New 52, despite loathing others
But, when reading titles that had their final issues in 2011, you just end up having the question of what was supposed to be the endgame of all the story threads that were introduced. Like, in Guggenheim's Justice Society, which, I frankly dislike, I wonder who Red Beetle and Darknight where supposed to be. Do we know what plans were in store for them before the New 52 happened.
The new 52 started well, lots of cool stories and interesting characters, but after Forever Evil the quality dropped too much, it was even comical, I remember that only League was cool, the rest was pretty weak
What do you think?
