Honestly I think even projects with bigger characters would be enhanced by that mindset. Don’t just make another run of the mill Batman movie, make a 1940s black and white noir Batman movie. Or a Green Lantern show that’s a sci-fi crime drama that leans into the “space cop” side of the character, and actually featured other worlds and aliens and stuff *cough cough* Far Sector adaptation *cough cough*

Honestly in general I’d like to see more superheroes movies in actual genres instead of this bland, overdone non-genre of “superhero movie” that most of them have become nowadays. For an example from the marvelous competition, I think Werewolf By Night is one of the best things the MCU has ever made, because it’s a campy, over the top universal monsters-style horror story. It makes it really stand out from everything else and was just really fun and refreshing, and left me wanting more Marvel (and DC) projects like that. Not literally in the sense of making them all cheesy black and white horror, but in making more distinctive, standalone projects in unique styles that are unlike anything we’ve ever seen in superhero shows/movies before.

WBN didn’t even have a particularly deep story or themes, it’s actually got a pretty simplistic plot. But just putting in that effort to make it feel different and have such a distinctive vibe made it really, really work.

I’ve never seen any evidence of super hero fatigue. But it might be nice to see a Kamandi series.
