I think the light blue is the best. The older art styles from the 40's to around the 90's is just unmatched by any art that has been drawn since, It's just so vibrant and extravagant. That's how these heroes are meant to be portrayed, as vibrant icons blasting off the pages, and I just feel that the art of the more modern comics does not compare to the classic art of the older comics.
At the end of the day, it really depends on the tone of the comic.
I prefer the dark blue because I want the colour to capture the iconic nature of Batman who is a no-nonsense, ruthless vigilante cum hero with a strong sense of justice to act swiftly and hesitantly where slightly necessary. And the light blue colour does not portray that. I think that's more Superman's speed.
It probably has more to do with pre-digital colouring techniques than anything else, but even the "dark" Batman stuck with light blue for a long time. I personally prefer the black and grey colour scheme, but the bright azure blue can be really striking with heavy black inks.
Absolutely. Batman basically wore the light blue from almost the beginning, up until the mid-ish 90's when they put him in a darker blue after Prodigal. Although after that it looked dark blue, other times it looked almost all black like in Grant Morrison's JLA run.
Royal blue
I'm sorry to say (start) with this but seeing as how Spider-Man Noir is mostly black and gray with white eyes and Spider-Man 2099 has the thing with the dark blue (and ending with) Batman Beyond is black with a red bat logo.
I think the Royal Blue fits him perfectly. His colors are brightened up in the day and darkened at night.
Also DC Universe Online also does this as the colors chosen for the player's character are darker in the Batman mentor than the Superman/Wonder Woman mentor.
But just as how Venom has had his different highlights throughout the years. I guess it's just up to whoever tells the story of Batman in their universe.
What, your first paragraph confused me.
You know how Batman Beyond Terry McGinnis' suit is black with a red bat symbol?
How Spider-Man Noir's Dimension has him in black and gray for stealthier attacks and etc?
How Spider-Man 2099's suit is like in-between light blue and royal blue or maybe it is royal blue?
I just like a color where it can look brighter in the sun and darker than what it is in the shadows.
That's why I voted royal blue for Batman's suit.
What do you think?
