I liked his appearances in Justice League and the Warworld Saga. He can be more than just a yellow-skinned Darkseid.

He's better than Rogol Zaar by default, though.

Rogol Zaar is a discount of whatever the discount of Mongul is.

His plant, The Black Mercy is quite appealing. It traps victims in a dream-like state causing them to see things that look real, but aren’t.

He’s a demented criminal that wants to enslave people. Just another space tyrant that needs a punch in face from Kal-el.

How is that a pun? If the Black Racer’s name was Mogul, maybe.

I thought it was obvious that Mongul is just a variation on “Mongol,” implying he has a thirst for conquest.

Anyway, Mongul is pretty one-note. They found use for him as a story device during “Exile” but he’s just a power hungry tyrant. No one cared when he and his son were offed in NE.

Mongul would have been more apt if he was introduced in the Silver Age as a Green Lantern villain.

I like him. He has the potential to be a great villain if written right. Would love to see him in a DCU Superman or Supergirl film.
