You'd be surprised by how many people are tired of movies about realistic Batman and want something wackier and more fantastical. For better or worse, the MCU proved that people can accept the more grandiose, operatic aspects of superheroes, so if the DCU plays its cards right, it can make a good movie about a more fantastical Batman. After all, the whole concept of a man who dresses like a bat to fight crime is inherently fantastical.
Also, if the DCU's Batman is the only superhero operating in Gotham, fans will probably accuse DC Studios of ripping off Reeves or Christopher Nolan, so really, DC just can't win with some people.
