The DCU has no fans yet when you think about it. By definition, a fan has to be someone who likes a specific franchise or project in a franchise. Since the DCU hasn’t started, there’s no actual fans yet. No one can call themselves fans until they actually watch something in the DCU. Once people watch CC or Superman and then form an opinion on it, that’s when we can actually say whether or not the DCU actually has fans. I’m sure I’ll be a fan of it, but I can’t say I’m a fan until I actually form an opinion based on how much I like CC or Superman. I’m just speculating that I’ll be a fan until I form my opinion. Same goes for everyone else. It’s like if you watched the trailer for The Batman a month or two before it came out. Sure, it looks better than Batman & Robin, but you can’t actually say that until you see it. Once you saw it, you could then say that it was better instead of just speculating that it would be. So until December 5th, the SSU has more fans than the DCU, although that is HIGHLY likely to change. I assume Gunn is using CC as a way to get hardcore DC fans (like us) on board with the DCU early that way when the marketing for Superman starts up there’s already a DCU fanbase to help promote the movie.
