@Leader Vladimir the criticisms are varied, and go from "they changed the origin that has worked fine for 70 years" to "why do they insert men into this celebration of woman-ness".

The latter was part of a bigger complaint, like the man-raping, God of War thing and making her Superman's girlfriend. Azzarello's writing did not please many - if even any - OG fans.

The former: her origin was a rather unique one (slightly reminiscent of the Galathea myth) and they turned her into a generic Greek hero. Oh your daddy is Zeus? Get in line. This isn't Wonder Woman, this is Hercules but with tits.

Which part is wrong? I know the "always" is an exaggeration, but she did get a brother during that Grail story. To be fair, I don't care for Jason and I don't think he has made too many appearances after that story (if any)

Calling 2011 to present "always" is not an "exaggeration" for a character that's been around since 1941.

Jason was created during a time where the clay sculpture origin was just a diversion to hide Diana's true parentage so your question is entirely irrelevant.

Even though the execution and the reception to the new origin could have been better, the concept behind her new origin was good. DC wanted WW to be more connected to the Greek roots, so what better way to do that than making her the daughter of Zeus?

It makes sense when you think about it. There is no WW without the Olympians, just like there is no Superman without Krypton and no Batman without Gotham.

As a fan of WW I had no issue with the change to her origin. It was interesting how they use her clay origin as a cover to hide her true parentage.

I actually enjoyed most of the New 52 retcpn for her origin. Only thing I didn't like was the changes made to the Amazon's themselves.

I mean they even brought back her mother being blonde like she was originally represented. The dark hair came with her reintroduction in the 80's.

I guess I just enjoyed the stories. Sadly cannot afford comics anymore. To much $$$ for my liking.

In the original run of WW her mother was depicted as being blonde. The change really came about when Diana was reintroduced in the 80's.

Remember she was erased from from the DC Universe at at the ending of Crisis.
