I don't have anything against Batman. I actually like him. I just like Superman better.
Yes, he has flaws but he works hard to overcome them and lots of people will tell you that Batman is a great character, not in spite of his flaws but because of them.
If you want genuinely abusive fathers, go read about Ra's al-Ghul and Darkseid. In the realm of fiction, audiences dislike abusive fathers more than global conquerors because the villainy of antagonists like Ra's or Darkseid is so unrealistic that it's hard to take seriously. The bigger the crime, the harder it is to process a response.
Meanwhile, familial abuse is something everyone recognizes and understands as wrong. That's why writers use them writing stories about villains. It's not enough that Darkseid or Ra's are trying to take over the universe. They also have to be crappy fathers, as well.
