Saying that something, anything, should be in the main continuity is easy, but there are lots of logistical problems that come with inserting elements from adaptations back into the source material. When DC started teasing a possible romance between Superboy and Miss Martian, people accused DC of trying to imitate Young Justice because Conner and M'gann barely had any meaningful interactions in the comics and their romance was an invention of the show.
