It’d be better than whatever the hell they think they’ve been doing lately.
@Fanfic Nick Something much more perfect could have emerged. I don't know why, but even though nothing official has been announced yet, I have a feeling a collaboration between DC Comics and Valiant Comics is imminent. Who wouldn't want to see a Superman vs. X-O Manowar, Batman vs. Ninjak, or Justice League vs. The Unity?
For Valiant I can't really say anything since I don't know anything about their comics. As for the turtles while I think they can crossover (like they have) I don't really think of them as fitting in DC, as I don't consider New York really a DC location even though it exists in continuity. And because I feel the turtles are the driving force in their multiverse.
@DeefMD They would likely live in a fictional city called Mirage City. Let's take Shazam as an example; Shazam's original comic book publisher was Fawcett Comics, but after DC acquired it, all the Shazam characters were reintroduced as residents of a fictional city called Fawcett City, named after their original publisher. The same formula could be used for TMNT. A fictional city called Mirage City could be created in honor of their original publisher, Mirage Comics, and the TMNT characters could be reintroduced as residents of this fictional city.
Valiant no but TMNT has already fit in pretty well.
@Jstewart2007 Since there hasn't been a comic book crossover between DC and Valiant yet, it's understandable that you might have a negative opinion of Valiant.
No I love Valiant. It just doesn’t seem like it would fit in a world with Superman and stuff.
@Jstewart2007 I love the Valiant Comics characters and believe they would fit well into both the DC and Marvel Universes. However, if they existed in the Marvel Universe, classifying the Valiant characters would be very difficult. Redefining which characters are mutants, which are mutated, and which are non-human would be quite a tedious process, as there are so many prominent species in the Marvel Universe. However, if they existed in the DC Universe, the vast majority of Valiant characters would be classified as metahumans, and that would be quite easy. Imagine Superman facing off against X-O Manowar, or Batman against Ninjak. That would definitely open the door to much better stories for DC Comics. I think new armored characters could be introduced to the DC Universe. X-O Manowar's armor is quite durable, meaning it can handle Superman's powers, and with the right scenario, this could lead to a quality Superman vs. X-O Manowar match. Who wouldn't want to see that kind of rivalry? A rivalry that started as hostile at first, but then a friendship.
TMNT could easily fit into either the DC or Marvel universes. Redundancy might be an issue for the Hand or the League of Assassins / Shadows and the Foot, but broadly I think adding them would be trivial. Valiant has the Milestone and WildStorm problem though: a whole stable of characters who WILL be less important to DC publishers than DC characters, so they'll get less emphasis and be more likely to barely exist within the DCU, which would be very sad.
Maybe at least Doctor Solar could eke out a niche? Who am I kidding, he's already halfway between Captain Atom and Doctor Manhtattan.
@Adekis The character of Solar is no longer owned by Valiant Comics. Following the bankruptcy of Valiant's then-owner, Acclaim Entertainment, in 2004, Valiant Comics lost the rights to Solar, Turok, and Magnus. I understand that all rights to these three characters are now held by Dynamite Comics. Divinity replaced Solar, and Savage replaced Turok.
A few others have suggested that Valiant's characters wouldn't fit into the DC Universe, but I disagree. I believe Valiant would be very difficult to integrate into the Marvel Universe, I even believe that XO Manowar will be overshadowed by Iron Man. However, I believe his integration into the DC Universe would be easier, and that X-O Manowar would even be treated on par with Superman's. X-O Manowar's armor could be redesigned to match Superman's powers.
I also believe that TMNT and Valiant could easily fit into both DC and Marvel, but Marvel also has the Malibu Comics problem. Since acquiring Malibu Comics in 1994, Marvel has never used the publisher's characters in comic book continuity. Everyone has different opinions on this matter; some say they don't use these characters due to agreements imposed by their creators, while others claim this rumor is false and that Marvel has full authority to use the characters they acquire from Malibu Comics. This issue has never been resolved for years. In other words, I believe that TMNT and Valiant Comics will suffer the same fate as the Malibu Comics characters if Marvel acquires them.
What do you think?
