Hello everyone, I decided to replay one of my favorite DC games, Batman: The Telltale Series, and I decided to make a series where I would rank every episode in the 2 seasons from 1-10.
Let's start from the first ever episode in the series: Episode 1, Realm Of Shadows
Firstly I think the game this is excellent job that's starting the series. You begin the game doing what you expect to do if you're playing a Batman game. Of course like get to know the stakes of situation and get to work. The way the game makes the combat and stealth is so satisfying.
I also thought it was a good idea to introduce one of the antagonist of the game, Catwoman in the same scene. If people aren't familiar with Catwoman than they quickly learn who her character is and what shes capable of. I also thought it was smart for the first few questions of this game questioning your morals as Batman and what you as the players stand as being Batman. It's such a smart way of setting up people's experience of Batman and what to expect from playing the game.
I also enjoy the next scene as for once, your playing as Bruce Wayne and not Batman. It's not every Batman game that lets you experience the Bruce Wayne experience. You get to socialize with people and meet the soon to be antagonist of the game Harvey and Vicky Vale. Carmine Falcone it's one of my favorite characters from the series and I thought he was made a great entrance in the game. The private chat you have with him shows your relationship with him and what you think of him as a mobster.
I also know a few people were left with confusion as Carmine Mentions Bruce's Father and get to know a little more about him.
The next scene are also great. I Enjoyed talking to Alfred more on Bruce's family and introduction to Penguin was also fantastic. Penguin may seem like a assehole to some people, but I personally enjoyed his relationship with Bruce and how his family suffered. It makes for a good Villain motivation and Oswald also had a great voice actor.
The next few scenes are pretty good as well. I liked praying more as Bruce Wayne and the drama between his family's corruption. I liked how the game gives us the power to deal with the situation at hand and it what we choose to do with the situation. It's not after the scene where Catwoman finds out our identity where things get really good
The interrogation scene is probably one of the best scenes in The Telltale series and I honestly surprised it wasn't showed up more in the series. First thing this is the first time where we get to use Batman's detective skills in a crime scene. It's very satisfying to see Batman making a connection where we feel close to solving the mystery. The scene where we're giving option and how we want to interrogate the suspect was fantastic. You say we always have to go with how Batman is going to do it but this time, we get to choose how we can interrogate it and I honestly Loved it. Especially in the end we get to see how are I think of how we delth with the interrogation.
The next scene with Alfred was amazing. Yeah once you can call me about our morals for being Batman, and the emotion and tension really set the experience high. The next part where we choose our alliances is with ether Gordon or Vicky Vale was a pretty easy choice. It never liked Vicky even before the reveal and Gordon has had much better scenes is this episode.
The final scene was done great. Firstly, I liked how we could plan our attack. One of the main things I like about Telltale was there main thing of choice. And Implemented this into a Batman game was a great move by Telltale. The battle was done great. As the player we get to choose weather to to fight Carmine with ether aggression or hold back. And the final scene where Carmine reveals that the Wayne's are criminals really left me in shock.
Overall, I think this is a very great beginning to the game series. it introduces the characters very perfectly and that's a great job at showing their ideals and who they are in Bruce Wayne/Batman's life. the plot twist at the end of the episode really showed how creative telltale was with this game.
So overall, I'm giving this episode a 9/10
Continuing this series might take some time with either my motivation or I'm just lazy.
