Kryptonite

Hey everyone, I am curious on how Kryptonite is eventually discovered and more specifically, weaponized... we always see someone just carry it around or seem to know what it does or know it came from the explosion of Krypton but I feel like they don't give enough of a moment to realize it truly affects Superman, at least not to greater depth... after moving to Metropolis and meeting Lex Luthor, he always becomes aware of the mineral and carries a piece around or even weaponizes it into weapons or even create "super soldier" villains like Metallo to take down the Man of Steel so how did Lex know about not just the mineral but the weakness so he can actually harness its potential and weaponize it?

If Kryptonite basically weaks Kryptonians why was it made on Krypton in the first place?

I want the obvious to ones that people wouldn't be aware of, something that surprises people and hard to find, totally new ideas

On May 20, 2022, Superman Homepage started a poll in which voters were asked whether or not Kryptonite should exist.

I don't hate Kryptonite as a concept. I just hate how overused it has become in Superman stories. It makes sense for Superman to negatively affected by a radioactive element from his homeworld, just like we ourselves are negatively affected by radioactive elements from our own homeworld, but the problem is that, after 84 years of stories, Kryptonite has become way too central to the Superman mythos that sometimes, it shows up simply because people expect it to show up, sooner or later. What was introduced as a novel concept ended up becoming a cheap plot device.

This became so bad that even modern creators struggle to give Superman a credible challenge that doesn't involve Kryptonite, magic or red solar radiation. Ironically, the DC Universe features an overabundance of characters that can take Superman's full power and give it back with interests like Brainiac, General Zod, Bizarro, Doomsday, and, of course, a certain dark lord of Apokolips, which means that Kryptonite has lost its purpose as a weakness for Superman. Either all Kryptonite in the DC Universe gets destroyed or Superman becomes permanently immune to it. I'm fine with either option.

But, at the end of the day, these are just my opinions and you neither have to like them nor agree with them. That's the beauty of having an opinion. I'm not asking you to agree or like my opinions, only to respect them. Now, I encourage you write what do you think about all of this. Do you think Kryptonite still has a place in Superman's mythology or perhaps it should removed from the DC Universe completely?

If Martian manhunter turned into like a kryptonite dragon does he get the powers of the kryptonite

I don’t know much about the comic version, but I know briefly that it is a suit that is capable of going up against Superman based on it’s kryptonite tech, but would it be considered as strong or is it only strong because of it’s kryptonite to weaken Supes? How does it fair against other enemies?

Is kryptonite still necessary as a weakness ?

How in the world did Superman survive for 2 years with kryptonite in his blood ?? If Kal-el was exposed to kryptonite for a long period of time, he would die ! We have also seen how green kryptonite brought him to his knees and in Justice League Doom, Superman was shot with a kryptonite bullet and was having a really hard time breathing, sooooo how in the world was he able to function with so much kryptonite in his blood his eyes turned green ?? And wouldn't he have died at least a few hours later from all that kryptonite ??

Wouldn’t it be more cost efficient for Lex Luthor to replicate a red sun rather than use kryptonite?
