The Flash (Movie)

With both Superman and Batman, as well as Robin and Green Lantern, being reinvigorated for the D.C.U., and The Flash (2023) paving the way for the new franchise, it makes one wonder if the Justice League will one day be reiterated for it as well. James Gunn and Peter Safran may not have said anything about the team given their current plans, but given how the League is D.C.'s flagship team and those three particular heroes being among its members, it makes one wonder if the two of they will one day include them in any future entries. Plus, the title for the franchise's first "Chapter", "Gods and Monsters", is named after one of the team's comic arcs and its animated film version. And if so, with Darkseid being the League's greatest enemy, the only remaining questions are if he'll be included as well in the future, who could portray him, what he's after could be, and how such a future conflict could take place. Obviously, given the plans that James and Peter have made and those that they're developing, in addition to considering what their vision will be, it'll be very different from Zack Snyder's scrapped plans. But given how popular they are in the comics, they just have to be included.

I don't understand why The Suicide Squad and season 1 of Peacemaker aren't to be included in the article for the D.C. Extended Universe. They're set in said franchise. James Gunn may have said that "a rough memory" of their events took place in the upcoming D.C. Universe, but they were originally part of the D.C.E.U. before The Flash created the D.C.U. Besides: they aren't officially part of the incoming franchise's first "chapter". So why won't they be included? Explain that to me.

I fucking hate "Earth 789". The mere concept of it disgusts me. Why would any smooth-brained writers at DC want to combine the Burtonverse and Donnerverse as well as make sure Clark and Kara are the only super-powered beings? It makes no sense. The Burtonverse was dark and macabre, with an air of black comedy. The Donnerverse on the other hand was lighthearted, campy, and optimistic. It's especially baffling since The Flash (2023) canonized Nicolas Cage's Superman from Superman Lives, who was supposed to be the Superman of the Burtonverse. It's all complicated for no reason whatsoever. If I were in charge at DC, I'd make it so that the Donnerverse is Earth 78, the Burtonverse is Earth 89, and the Schumacherverse is Earth 97. The problem is that DC seems to treat its multiverse(s) differently from Marvel. But now, after Dark Crisis restored the Infinite Multiverse, there's no reason to have multiple multiverses. Why not increase communication between different creative teams, DC? Or better yet have advisors to address this sort of discrepancy? If you have one big infinite fictional multiverse, give each universe and piece of media a unique designation, and STOP REUSING UNIVERSE DESIGNATIONS FFS!!!

So I have a theory about how The Flash’s reboot of the DCEU is gonna work, and I was a little hesitant to share because of discourse among DC fans, but I decided to chance it. Just don't take what I say as gospel, I have no hard evidence. I'm merely making educated guesses based on what we know about the film as well as DC Studios' decisions as of late.

Since we know this won't be a complete reboot and projects like Aquaman and Peacemaker will remain canon, I'm guessing they want to keep the projects that have gotten overall positive reception and scrap the ones that have gotten mixed and negative reception. However, the Muschettis have said The Flash doesn't forget anything, so I doubt those projects will be completely scrubbed from existence. Essentially I’m thinking the projects they want to keep as DCU canon, they’ll separate from the rest, splitting the universe in two. In other words, DC can always go back to the scrapped DCEU films whenever they want, just in case, but they'll keep everything else in the main DCU.
