I’m not a big fan. I think his introduction was pretty rushed. We could have gotten an interesting look at Batman’s slow descent into madness after killing the Joker, but he pretty much turned evil right away and the rest of the issue was dedicated to showing how cool, badass, and evil he was in a way that didn’t leave me very impressed.
I can never decide on a favourite. Prey is an underrated one I always come back to, though.
Paul Dini’s Detective Comics run features a reformed Riddler as a side character who appears pretty frequently. Penguin shows up at certain points, and has a couple funny interactions with Eddie. Nothing major though, but I’d recommend the run for the Riddler moments alone.
Good to hear! I’m doing fine as well.
@Leostales Been a while! Hope you’re doing well.
Annuals are usually written by the person writing the title at that time. I don’t think that Greg Rucka, for example, is ever gonna write a run for a main Batman title ever again, so it’s cool to see people like him getting to write a story in big issues like these.
I think it’s a nice opportunity to bring a big group of creators together and let them tell some interesting stories. It might not be anything super groundbreaking or have any grand statements about the characters, but to me it’s still pretty cool.
Cass did get adopted by Bruce at some point Post-OYL. But regardless, she’s wayyyy too old for Damian, at least in Post-Crisis. She was already an adult when Damian was 10. Not sure how old she’s supposed to be now, but still older than Damian.
New 52 Damian Wayne met New 52 Earth 2 Helena Wayne in issues 6-7 of Worlds’ Finest, if I remember correctly.
Bette/Betty Kane, the Silver Age Bat-Girl of the 50s. Some people also count Misfit (Charlie Gage-Radcliffe), but I’m not so sure.
I think it’d be cool. It would give more insight on the Dick Grayson as Robin era that’s not often explored in modern comics.
I haven’t read Cacophony, but its follow-up, The Widening Gyre, was horrendous.
Before Crisis on Infinite Earths, there was infinite universes, which was changed to just one (New Earth) at that story’s conclusion. Infinite Crisis in 2005 reinstated the multiverse to 52 Earths.
Not the Ratcatcher! He’s a really cool villain, and honestly pretty creepy. His debut arc was really atmospheric and portrayed him perfectly.
Ups and downs. Cold Days was brilliant IMO.
In Detective Comics #613, Batman fights a bunch of thugs, one of whom had just shot the son of a garbage collector with which they were having a dispute. During the scuffle, Batman kicks a guy to avoid getting hit, and the guy who got kicked gets knocked into another thug who then gets knocked into a trash compactor. Batman was pretty horrified and remorseful.
Not sure if this counts as Batman killing. It was certainly in self-defense, and he didn't mean for it to happen.
Maybe Stephanie Brown.
I don’t really see anything wrong with Zsasz. He’s got hair, like he used to in the comics. I imagine below the neck he’s got scars aplenty.
The Killing Joke is canon, and while the Joker’s Red Hood origin in the story itself was left ambiguous, later comics would confirm it as true. The Man Who Laughs addresses this.
I’d say it’s hard to dislike Stephanie cause of War Games cause she literally only written in such a way so they could justify killing her off.
