Nevermind. That's just dumb. You have 2 characters you can choose from and decide to just race swap the main one. Are there even any black people working on the movie or are they just doing it to pander to the black community and make money because they saw that Black Panther did well?

Yes, but in main continuity is where writers for movies and TV series draw the most inspiration. So we may never see a black Superman in mainstream media.

And that's where Marvel shines. In main continuity, off the top of my head, there are 5 black leads with one being afro latino, a latina lead, multiple latino leads, a muslim/pakistani lead, and multiple East Asian leads, with many of them being featured in mainstream media.

But, on the same token, sometimes it's too much. Sometimes it feels like every team has to have a token minority to pander to a specific audience and make money. That's very rare though.

IMO it wasn't really part of my argument. I was just admitting a bias towards those 4 based on my personal experience. My main argument was that I found Supes as a bit of a flat, bland character and that those were just more enjoyable ones.

I didn't say that. I just said that I enjoyed how those 4 have had black people take up the mantle. I like Bruce Wayne better than I like Clark Kent, I said that I think Batman is a more enjoyable character. I was just making a point about how I like seeing people that look like me as major superheroes. Is there a problem with liking representation?

Superman is very much the Captain America of DC. Cool, powerful, the all-American boy scout. But, in my opinion, a less enjoyable character than the likes of Batman, just like how Spidey and Tony are more enjoyable characters to me. But, growing up black with few black superheroes, I like how the thing Cap, Spidey, Bats and Iron Man all have in common is at one point or another there has been a black character that took over the mantle, without some sore of subtitle or alternate name. They Sam Wilson, Miles Morales, Jace Fox, and James Rhodes ARE Captain America, Spider-Man, Batman, and (at least for a long period of time) Iron Man, respectively. Supes just has Steel. So maybe I'm a bit biased.
