Do any other Green Lanterns have an arch nemesis from another Corps or are Hal and Kilowog the sum total?
Dick Grayson
I personally like when she has normal skin with a greenish tint
He’s a Titans villain and Nightwing’s archenemy. With that said, most people often include him in Batman’s rogues gallery while his association with Green Arrow isn’t as well-known/popular. Granted, public opinion doesn’t really have anything to do with who’s in a hero’s rogues gallery but, between Batman and Green Arrow, Batman has more claim to Deathstroke.
Do any other Green Lanterns have an arch nemesis from another Corps or are Hal and Kilowog the sum total?
I initially thought that’s what it was in reference to but second-guessed myself because it was applied specifically to Superman lol. Even taking that into account though, what makes Superman a bigger gaslighter than anybody who wants to keep their identities a secret? Is it because his powers give him more methods to do so?
What exactly do you mean when you say Superman and gaslighting lol? I’m genuinely asking, not trying to be sarcastic or anything
Honestly, when you put it that way, I take back what I said lol. I still wouldn’t consider Harley a Meta due to the origins of this ability and how situational it is but I guess a case could made for being a “Situational Meta-Human” lol.
Edit: It’s also an oddly inconsistent power because I believe Harley can still get drunk? Lol
Depending on who you ask, the term “Meta-Human” could be applied in two different ways:
The first and more popular application of this term is blanketed in that it’s just used in reference to any Human or humanoid with superpowers, regardless of the origins of said power.
The second way this term can be applied is through a more narrow lens in that it’s used in reference to a Human or humanoid with superpowers that come from their genes, whether it be natural or through genetic mutation and, subsequently, are of a non-magical origin. I personally prefer this application because I feel as though the blanketed version leaves no room to differentiate.
Anyway, regardless of which side you personally prefer, the only members of the squad that would be considered Meta-Humans are Killer Croc and El Diablo. The other squad members are just skilled in certain fields and, regardless of whether those skills were cultivated through training or came naturally to them, none of them really constitute as superpowers. Even something like being immune to or capable of resisting toxins (an ability that comic Harley has) doesn’t really count as a superpower because a regular Human could feasibly reach that level, given the right circumstances.
I know that he uses his heat vision to shave his facial hair but I don’t quite get how he cuts his head hair or body hair (assuming he doesn’t like being completely hairless below the neck) using that method... It’s not like he shaves his head bald...
Also, wouldn’t it be more efficient to just have a small piece of Kryptonite that he only uses while grooming? I know that it causes him discomfort - though, in some incarnations, the amount of discomfort is directly proportional to the size of the Kryptonite - but I feel like it’s a lot easier than angling a mirror to use his heat vision on lmao. If the angle is even slightly off or he twitches, he’s gonna have to wear a baseball cap on his next mission lmao
There are indeed those that still worship the Norse Gods and believe in what they were told by those who came before, just like with the Judeo-Christian faith. I feel as though people (not you specifically) think that these faiths were lost to time and are still practiced in primordial (?) ways when that couldn’t be any less true. For example, Nigerians, most Caribbeans and some Americans still worship the Orisha, albeit in different ways that each evolved as we reached the present.
I recall it being stated that some would “cease to exist” without the faith of mortals (Humans). Additionally, many of the places in which these beliefs originated still practice them/worship its respective gods to this very day... Unlike the Judeo-Christian Theology, these other faiths are embedded in entire cultures so, unless these cultures are erased, I don’t think that there will ever be an “extinction” as you guys put it.
@FraBig
The products of Greek mythology such as the Gods and Amazons aren’t extinct because there are people that believe in them. The majority of the human population refuse to let go of the belief that there is something bigger than them and it is for this reason that the pantheons will never really have to worry about ceasing to exist.
I really like this response ^ thanks for your input
If, in the DC Universe, all of the pantheons that our real world religions are based on actually exist solely due to mortal (specifically Human) faith, how is it that a) the characters recall existing and aiding in Human evolution BEFORE Humans thought of them and b) the characters are capable of doing things that Humans don’t believe they did/do? (Ex: Lucifer Morningstar being a good guy) Does doing action “A” not contradict action “B” and vice versa???
That’s precisely the reason why I asked lol; The fact that little Jon even exists just raises a whole bunch of questions regarding Kryptonian physiology. I forgot where I read it - actually trying to find it now - but, apparently, Kryptonian blood matches every type found here on Earth, which, if true, would explain how Kryptonian blood interacts with Human blood, but it still wouldn’t explain what would happen if somebody like you or me were to receive a blood transfusion from the Boy Scout...
What would happen to a human if they were to receive a blood transfusion from a Kryptonian? Would nothing happen? Would they be gifted Kryptonian powers or, at least, watered down versions like Superboy in Young Justice? Would the blood act as a catalyst for activating the Meta Gene? Would they just die? I wanna hear your thoughts
I’ve noticed that Deathstroke is, more often than not, just treated as an exceptional assassin as opposed to a Super Soldier/Metahuman, so my question is this: does Slade’s status as a Super Soldier due to his genetic enhancements make him a Metahuman or does the fact that his condition isn’t necessarily extraordinary and could feasibly be achieved by a regular human with enough training (like Batman and Ra’s al Ghūl) just make him a man at peak human condition? Also, I know it’s not the definitive source but I want to bring this up anyway; in the DC Universe Online video game, Calculator himself even tells you - the player - that Deathstroke is a Metahuman during your introductory tour of the Hall of Doom, yet Slade’s Iconic Battlesuit and gear are located in the “Tech Wing” - the place for beings made of technology (like Amazo and Red Tornado), people who have been permanently enhanced by technology (like Cyborg, Metallo, and Hank Henshaw), and non-superpowered individuals who rely either partly or solely on technology and gadgets in order to fight (like Steel, the Lantern Corps, and Nightwing) - instead of the “Meta Wing” - the place for individuals with superpowers that can be explained by science, come from their unique genetics, and are *not* magical in nature (like Static, Lobo, and Kryptonians while under a yellow sun) - so that just adds to the confusion lmao...
This question could theoretically also apply to somebody like Bane or Kirk Langstrom since they’re also known to be enhanced by serums, however, I’d understand if they weren’t classified as Metas since they use serums to *temporarily* gain superpowers as opposed to *passively* being enhanced like Slade.
Can somebody please explain to me why Lex Luthor is sometimes referred to as a Metahuman? I understand that his intellect is vastly superior when compared to those of anyone or anything on Earth but when the term “Metahuman” is used, it is almost always in reference to individuals with supernatural abilities and the entire idea of Lex is that he is just a human who dares to challenge “gods” with nothing but his brain and technology... Superman and others have offhandedly mentioned how “Lex’s genius is his superpower” but I always thought that, that was meant to be taken figuratively, not literally
I could’ve sworn some Kryptonite isotopes were effective on other species like Black and Red? Welp I guess if they aren’t, my first question is answered lol
If Harvey Dent finally decided that two’s a crowd and wanted “Big Bad Harv” out of his body, what would be the better method: using Black Kryptonite or getting an Exorcism done by a Magic User?
Additionally, if this were to happen, what would become of The Judge? Technically speaking, The Judge isn’t evil, he’s a brutal antihero and Black Kryptonite only splits a person in two - a good half and a bad half. Also, The Judge is the result of Two-Face’s personality fragmenting, not Harvey’s or “Big Bad Harv”’s, so would Two-Face being split apart eliminate him? Or would he become Harvey’s new second personality and alter ego? (I know Harvey’s version of “The Judge” was a thing only featured in ‘Batman: The Animated Series’ but let’s just ignore that for this scenario)
