I’d love a series about the All-Star Squadron characters settling down and having kids and stuff it would make for a good watchmen type series, and if it was taking place in the 50 years between The JSA disbanding and Superman debuting to the public you could also work in characters like Cave Carlson, the Sea Devils, the Challengers of the Unknown, and the Blackhawk squadron who were the heroes of that time, maybe just in the background as view from the perspective of the JSA/All-Star Squadron characters.
Definitely, maybe just a comic that’s set in the golden age period, kinda like 52 accept during that time period
Totally maybe done in a retro cartoon way to really capture the feel
King Chimera’s got fans, what can I say
Also has anyone noticed that Citizen Steel, King Chimera, Tomcat, and Pieter Cross’s Doctor Midnight are still MIA in current continuity?
Seconded if they do one it should be noir-like
Agreed that the lead up was actually really well done the core Batman issues from right after the war of Jokes and Riddles to the wedding itself are superb and some of the best Batman comics I’ve read especially in the past decade, also the prelude issues starring the bat family are so well done they’re worth it too
Also Peasemaker was a member of Project Peasemaker which was sanctioned by the Agency which was Sanctioned by the government so regardless of wether or not he was a government agent or not in the silver age (which by the way, if your a diplomat you’re part of your government) he definitely was in the Post-Crisis 80s/90s era and just like the Comedian in Watchmen (who’s literally based off of Peacemaker) he works as a much more realistic interpretation of a U.S. propaganda character, a parody of a U.S. propaganda character, if you will. While Captain America is a legitimate U.S. Propaganda character, at least originally in the golden age. Parody or not Peacemaker and Captain America still have that All-American soldier feel to them which is why I say that Peacemaker is an acceptable, if not thematically interesting, answer to my question of “Out of the Midnight Suns cast who is a DC character that could take their place?” in this case Captain America.
Ok but look-wise they make sense
Personally when it comes to the Captain America/Peasemaker question my opinion is similar to the Wolverine/Lobo answer. Because aesthetically Peacemaker and Captain America are both very similar but in terms of personality and intentions they’re very different. I think Peasemaker is a good foil to Captain America, or, hell, a Captain America type in look, and general abilities. And Peacemaker’s purpose is a lot like Captain America’s on the surface, or at least that’s what is supposed to look like to the public.
Can’t comment on the Shield debate though.
Lol that’s a good one
Well they’re all Russian I think
Awesome list, I was waiting for someone to say Deathstroke I’m a huge fan of deathstroke reluctantly being a good guy and would like to see more stories like that. Huge Rocket Red fan, can’t believe I didn’t think about that myself. Follow up question, which Rocket Red? Also Hitman, PERFECT, 90s hero’s seem perfect for a Mystical Hell based kinda game. Hitman, Fate, Blood Pack Characters…. Good choice
I definitely agree with that personality wise Wolverine is superhero no question even if he’s done terrible things and has a bad past he’s truly a hero through and through, where as Lobo is an Anti-hero on his best days and much worse the rest of the time and definitely doesn’t care about anything a fraction as much as Logan, but in terms of unkillable, cigar smoking, super hairy, animal-like, rage machines they’re pretty similar.
Also if you were to put only one golden age story in the back of each issue instead of an entire Golden age magazine you honestly wouldn’t be taking up any more room than DC already does when they preview they’re upcoming comics in back of their main issues but instead you’d get a full and complete Golden or Silver Age story that’s a blast from the past
I also wanted to say that I noticed both of these lists have Hardware in Iron Man’s spot, which I think is really cool. I wanted to say that I’m definitely in the camp that thinks the milestone characters belong in the main dc universe. I’m a huge fan of Dwayne McDuffey’s Justice League of America/Shadow Cabinet cross over in the last Justice League volume before Flashpoint happened. I definitely think it could be a Wildstorm situation where the Wildstorm characters have, since Flashpoint, become part of the main Prime Earth DC Universe, and then recently they rebooted the Wildstorm Universe itself with The Wild Storm, now I know that that’s ended since or at least has been put on hiatus, but that’s to Convergence, Pre-Flashpoint Earth-50 which is the original Wildstorm universe exists again, so you never no. But my whole point in saying that, is that I feel that they could easily do the same with the Milestone characters, and I’d just personally love to see Static interacting with Titans characters or an Icon and Superman story, and another Shadow Cabinet or blood syndicate or whatever/Justice League story would be awesome. I am curious if Static is still kinda part of the Prime Earth continuity since he had a Post-Flashpoint title set on Prime Earth even though he hasn’t been used in Prime Earth continuity for years. Maybe someone could straighten me out on that?
Love the inclusion of Andrew Bennet. Also atomic skull is an awesome choice I think we need more stories (SPECIFICALLY OUTSIDE OF SUICIDE SQUAD) where low level villain are forced to work with the heroes, or at least begrudgingly have to, or maybe they’re goals briefing aline but as soon as it’s over they go back to being bad guys. Also, didn’t think of Katana but I love that!
@Tupka217 great list Captain Atom is one of my favorites and I love the inclusion of Hardware. Lobo is also perfect as the Wolverine character. I never even considered Starfire for Carol Danvers but that’s perfect. The JL Dark characters are all pretty much no brainers, I really like the inclusion of Deadman
@FraBig, I couldn’t agree more with everything you just said.
