Hi, I'm new here is this community.
I'm a DC fan and I think I've watched every single DC movie ever made but at the same time, I'd like to start reading comics to see how the movies compare to the source material.
I've checked your recommended reading section and I'll use it as a starting point. But here's the thing though, I've always seen the characters from the movies and their comic book contenparts as different because they for the most part have different roles, dialogues and characterizations which is typical in adaptations but the only thing that they have in common is the name so I'd like to know when filmmakers are making a movie featuring for example Batman.
Are the characters of the film based on comic book characters just because of the simple fact they share the same name? Because like I said both can be so different to the point the adaptation can be considered an original work but it's not, is it?
I'd appreciate your help and hope I didn't bother you all.
Have a nice day.
