Abin Sur was a member of the Green Lantern Corps and the protector of Sector 2814.
History
While patrolling the sector, he is attacked and crash lands on Earth. With his dying breath, he gives his Green Lantern Ring to Hal Jordan, making him the first human in the Green Lantern Corps.[1]
He currently resides in the Emerald Space, the "afterlife" for Green Lanterns who gave their life for the cause.[2]

- Abin Sur was created by Gil Kane and John Broome, first appearing in Showcase #22. However, in the Prime Earth continuity, Abin Sur first appeared as part of the New 52 DC Universe in Green Lantern (Volume 5) #9 by Geoff Johns and Doug Mahnke.
