Synopsis for "Episode Four: Chaotic Action"
The voice in Hal Jordan's head tells him that judgement has been made, but he can make a penance. However, a new voice tells him that he is right, and has always been right. The truth is that God is not a ring of light, God is a dark circle around everything. The black void in his vision changes to red, and the ring of light transforms into a black star. The red voice tells Hal to be the black star and he whispers that he doesn't want to.
Jo again tells Hal to snap out of it, saying that she doesn't want to hurt him, but he replies that he wishes she could. Hal tells Jo to run but she refuses to leave after what Hal did. Hal is angered by this and the Black Hand regains control over him. It expands in size and extends from Hal's body, shoving Jo far out into the desert. She crashes to the ground in a crater and the Hand pulls Hal along after her. The Hand has now expanded to consume almost his entire body, and he accusingly asks her what happened to Evergreen.
The night before; Hal, Jo and Todd Rice meet up at Todd's diner. They have searched the town and found that everyone else is gone, presumably killed by Abin Sur, leaving them as the only ones left. The three of them agree that Jo will lure Abin Sur out and then Hal will kill him with Rita's gun and his gold-painted bullets. Jo goes out into he street and calls for Abin Sur to show himself, demanding answers. Abin Sur descends down from the Lantern and tells Jo to be without fear. She asks him why he killed everyone, but Abin Sur is confused. He says that he accidentally killed the biker, Jason Simmons, when he crashed into the barrier and killed Rita as her stray bullet had killed a bystander, Beatrice Coles, but he has not ended the existence of any other.
Jo protests that he disintegrated Guy and John in front of her, but he again insists that he has not ended their existence. Jo realises to her shock that they are still alive and Abin Sur tells her that the missing townspeople exist in "OA", the Omega-Alpha, the "Second Stage"; and their judgment remains in progress. Todd whispers to Hal to take the shot but Hal replies that Jo is communicating with Abin Sur and they may be able to end this without violence. Jo asks Abin Sur to explain and if he can bring the people back, but he tells her that continued existence must be within the light. He tells her that he is the Abin Sur and Ain must be selected: Ain Roa, Ain Sur and Ain Aur. Abin Sur says that initiates against the dark must be selected and tells Jo to be with fear, to fear the Weaponers of Qard.
Abin Sur begins to transform into his energy form to fly away but Jo calls after him to explain. She reaches out to Abin Sur and her hand, with her solid gold wedding ring on it, passes into him. She sees visions of alien worlds and the green light passes into the ring and then into her, granting her powers. Abin Sur falls to the ground and after a moment of stunned silence declares a "chaotic action". He screams "ANOMALY" and the Green Lantern falls out of the sky onto Evergreen.
In the present, a force of armed corporate security have set up a perimeter around Evergreen and the Green Lantern. A helicopter carrying the company owner and his assistant fly in and land in the wreckage of main street. The man, Hector Hammond, emerges from the helicopter and announces that the Lantern belongs to him.
