The Ace of Spades is a member of the Royal Flush Gang. The first was an unnamed criminal who took over from the Ace of Clubs, Amos Fortune. Fortune later returned to the Ace mantle. Originally, the Ace was the leader, but with the introduction of the Ace Android, leadership passed to the King instead, and Ace became the team's muscle. The most prominent of these was Ernie Clay.
Ace of Spades was created by Martin Pasko and Irv Novick, first appearing in The Joker #5 (1976).
