The Ace of Winchesters is a magical rifle made to kill demons.
History
It was made by a mystic occultist who was in the Texas Rangers from halo-steel and hades-gems, bound in the ivory of saints.[1]
The rifle fell into the possession of a man named Zeerke and was sought by collector Jerry O'Flynn, who hired John Constantine and Brendan Finn to retrieve the rifle. Zeerke initially demanded a sum of £500,000 in exchange for the rifle until he later doubled his asking price, which forced Constantine and Finn to steal it. O'Flynn took ownership of the Ace of Winchesters and sold it for a hefty profit.[2]
The Ace of Winchesters ended up on display in the Gotham Museum of Antiquities. The Mawzir anonymously hired Catwoman to steal the rifle for him in order to prevent it from falling into the hands of his target Tommy Monaghan and using it against him.[1] Monaghan called in the debt Jason Blood owed him, hoping Etrigan could reclaim the rifle from The Arkannone in Hell. Monaghan and his associates, along with Catwoman, managed to retrieve the rifle and kill the Mawzir. Afterward, Tommy offered the Ace of Winchesters to Catwoman as payment for her help, but she let Monaghan keep it, saying he needed it more.[3]
Notes
- Although first mentioned in Hellblazer #76 it was never actually depicted. The Ace of Winchesters' first physical appearance was in Hitman #16.
