Synopsis for "Leviathan Rises, Part 3"
Superman and Lois watch from the Fortress of Solitude as media outlets report the fall of several intelligence agencies all over the world. They have brought Waller and Jimmy to the Fortress to protect them from Leviathan, the entity behind the attacks. 27 minutes ago, Waller had come to the Kents' apartment, already knowing Superman's secret identity, and told them that Leviathan was after them. Waller collapses and Clark places her on the same bed as Jimmy, while checking with his X-ray vision if there was anyone following her.
Lois is angry that Waller has the nerve to spy on Superman even after everything he has done to protect humanity. She asks Waller about her father and Waller explains that she injured him to escape from the creature that had destroyed their safehouse. As the creature approached him, Lane had a heart attack and lost consciousness, explaining why the creature spared him. Waller tried to make her way to other A.R.G.U.S. safehouses but they were all compromised, which is why she went to the Kents. They were the only ones who could protect her. She also tells Lois that Sam is in the hospital, getting the care she needs, only to get punched in the face by Lois. Jimmy awakens and asks if he can have some coffee.
Superman visits the Columbus General Hospital and finds Sam in a coma. The Question is already there and tells Superman about his investigation. Superman asks the Question to keep Sam and safe, and he will send the Wonder Twins as back up. He then makes his way to the Hida mountains in Japan, the former headquarters of Talia al Ghul, who used to be the leader of Leviathan. He finds the place entirely deserted, except for a handwritten note that says "We want the same thing -- Leviathan."
Superman then flies to the Batcave, attempting to find Batman, but Alfred tells him Batman is busy with the Riddler. Alfred, too, is aware of Leviathan's actions and promises to notify Batman once he returns. Superman gives him a piece of evidence he could run forensics on and leaves, telling Alfred he doesn't get enough credit for his work.
Director Bones is inspecting the ruins of the D.E.O. headquarters until he finds Superman hovering above him. Superman tries to offer assistance, but Bones angrily accuses him of being responsible for the attack, threatening him and and Supergirl if he does find they are responsible. Superman remains silent and takes his leave.
Upon returning to the Fortress, Superman finds Lois, Waller and Jimmy working together to solve the mystery of Leviathan. With organizations like the D.E.O. and A.R.G.U.S. inoperative, that means Spyral must be Leviathan's next target. According to Superman, Spyral is in lockdown, providing the perfect opportunity to infiltrate them and anticipate Leviathan's attack. Lois says that Chaz could get involved, much to Superman's chagrin.
As Jimmy and Waller wonder who Chaz is, Superman and Lois move to another room in the Fortress. Lois exposes Superman to a piece of Kryptonite-based technology that caused Superman to grow a beard, which Superman says will only last an hour. With his new face, Superman is now Chaz Denon, an undercover agent for Spyral, and he and his partner Andi need an extraction.
