Action Comics #1018 is an issue of the series Action Comics (Volume 1) with a cover date of March, 2020. It was published on January 1, 2020.
Synopsis for "Metropolis Doom! Part 2"
The battle between the Justice League and the Legion of Doom rages across Metropolis' own Shuster Park. As Red Cloud watches from the sidelines, she remembers how she got her powers.
Six months ago, Robinson used to be a new reporter for the Star Sentinel, investigating the mysterious disappearances of several S.T.A.R. Labs scientists. Upon entering S.T.A.R. Labs, she tried to reach some of the scientists for a comment. The scientists merely tried to ignore her but one of them eventually lost control and knocked Robinson out from behind. As Robinson woke up, she overheard the scientists talking about what they should do with her, wondering if they should throw her into a chamber filled with a special red smoke.
Robinson attempted to escape but one of the gas' tendrils grabbed her and plunged her deep into the chamber, causing a huge explosion. Robinson had become the Red Cloud. The scientists were fascinated by this turn of events and wanted to run tests on her, but the angry Red Cloud demanded to know what the scientists had done to her. The scientists didn't care about her and Red Cloud killed them before making her escape.
In the present, Superman continues to fight Lex while catching a glimpse of Red Cloud in the distance. This momentary distraction allows Lex to blast Superman back until Wonder Woman after knocking Gorilla Grodd out, holds him down, giving Superman enough time to tell Melody Moore and her men to clear the area.
Two days ago, Melody was having a meeting with Clark on City Hall. Clark wanted to interview Melody about her first year as chief of the Metropolis Fire Department and she answers that she was shocked to learn that her first act as chief was to investigate a rash of mysterious fires across the city but her investigations were stonewalled by the city's mayor. To make matters worse, the fires were caused by a group of criminals that wanted to keep Superman distracted just to keep their own activities hidden.
Melody tells Clark that she was inspired by Superman and wants to do right by Metropolis, which is why she has decided to run for mayor. She can only hope that she can get Superman's endorsement. In that moment, Clark takes off his glasses and reveals he is Superman to her. He has made the decision to reveal his secret identity to the world tomorrow. She is shocked and also expresses that she's a big fan of him and his wife Lois Lane, before asking why would he entrust her with his biggest secret. Clark says this is a test of character: if Melody can keep Superman's identity secret for 41 hours, right before he goes public with his identity, she will have his endorsement.
Suddenly, the Legion of Doom's headquarters soars above the skies of Metropolis and Superman prepares for battle. Upon reaching the ship, however, he is hit by multiple energy projections and comes across a shocking discovery: the Legion of Doom and Leviathan have become allies.
