Synopsis for "The Warworld Saga, Part 5"

Superman continues to try to inspire the populace of Warworld against Mongul but finds it difficult, as they have been culturally brainwashed to believe that cruelty is strength and kindness is weakness. He manages to gain some popularity when he valiantly fights Mongul single-handed to stop him killing two Phaelosian child gladiators Osul-Ra and Otho-Ra. Chaytil advises Mongul to kill Superman before he gains any further traction, but Mongul tells him that his plans for the United Planets need Superman alive. Meanwhile, OMAC is brought before Teacher, who shows them Lightray's body. He tells them that if they give him access to their armor's systems, he can restore Lightray to life.

That night, Steel gets a message from Midnighter saying that he plans to destroy Warworld's red solar generators, which would restore Superman's powers but also cause the planet to break apart and kill thousands. Kryl-Ux tells him that there may be another way and together they sneak out of the cells. Kryl-Ux leads Superman to an ancient tomb called the Necropolis deep in the caverns of Warworld. The walls of the Necropolis are laced with veins of Genesis, and when Superman touches it he is able to absorb its energy to partially restore his powers, rising into the air. Superman's super-hearing returns and he hears Mongul's soldiers slaughtering the Phaelosians in the cells. They rush back as the soldiers threaten Osul and Otho-Ra.
